William Edward Flora, 91, of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 24, 1924, in Paw Paw, W.Va., Mr. Flora was the son of the late Clair Robert Flora and Irene (Sagedy) Flora. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. Flora; a son, Ronald E. Flora; a brother, Junior Flora; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A graduate of Fort Hill High School, class of 1942, William was a United States Army veteran during World War II and retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. He was a former member of the Cumberland Elks and the Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. William was an avid coin collector and baseball card collector. He was a hard worker and loved being outdoors.
William is survived by his granddaughters, Michelle Flora, Atco, N.J., and Crystal Flora, Pine Hill, N.J.; his great-grandson, Michael Hansbury, Atco; and his daughter-in-law, Mary Sue Flora, Sicklerville, N.J.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Saturday, July 30, 2016, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Wayne Turner officiating.
